Summary
Reviewed on 10-17-09

I bought my hp 2300c new many years ago and it has been a reliable workhorse for my light duty needs. The driver(s) and other software have not integrated well with newer technology. Color is good enough. Features are just average but good enough. Speed is slow. Good customizing options to imporve original scan. Cost was low at the time of purchase 8+ years ago. DO NOT LOSE THE SOFTWARE DISC and protect it from oily finger prints and scratches because every time you change your hard drive or upgrade computers you will have to reinstall all the software again. Most valuable feature: It will batch scan multiple PDF pages into one file. THAT feature no longer works on mine and I'm a bit sad to retire it. Time for something current.

Bottom Line: I would recommend this product as a starter scanner for a kid with an older computer. But it is too obsolete for business or home office use.

Strengths
PROs: dependable mid-range performance
will combine multiple PDF scans into one file

Weaknesses
CONs: difficult to integratge with new platforms and newer computers and their
programs.
Not well supported anymore.
Does not do transparencies like 35mm slides
