Summary
DO NOT use dotPhoto or MyPhotoAlbums if you care about your online digital content (your photos). Their system would randomly delete albums, even newly uploaded ones, without any warning.
Talking customer service? Yeah right, you get a "sorry the mailbox of the person you are trying to reach is full, please try again later" and it hangs up. So if you want to call 609-643-0090 x400 (the same as pressing 1 for customer service) and listen to that everytime, have fun.
E-mailing customer service at support@dotphoto.com is pretty much useless. They either reply back with canned messages treating you like an idiot or continue to think of some excuse that it is your fault.
In my case, all of my albums except the last 2nd (not even the last one) uploaded was deleted overnight (well actually in about 10 hours). All of my older albums and the most recent one was deleted. Asking dotPhoto to restore them goes on deaf ears. They just stopped replying to my messages.
So in the end ... if you care about your treasured family photos, do NOT rely on dotPhoto to keep them online for you.
Strengths
Pre-2008, they were reliable and batches of photos ordered returned back consistent results.
Since 2008, we've been disappointed with them. dotPhoto use to process everything in NJ and we would get them quickly. Sometime in 2008, it appears that they were merged with or acquired by MyPhotoAlbum. After that, the photo prints seems to be coming from some company in Texas. Processing now takes a lot longer. Our Christmas holiday cards took a month to get! And that is only after repeated e-mails asking about them. The canned responses were they are "being processed." For 4 weeks?!?!?!
Overall strengths now (post 2008) ... maybe their prices (even that is not as competitive as before, there are many who are just as good and cheap).
Weaknesses
Absolutely no concern for customer's photos. They will delete albums without warning. They do not even have means to restore from a backup when albums are trashed by the system. Not even if they are reported within 24 hours.
DO NOT rely on dotPhoto is you wish to retain photo albums online.
dotPhoto's album password security is a joke.

Customer Service
Absolutely no phone support. You get a message that the mailbox is full, then it hangs up on you.
E-mail customer support (support@dotPhoto.com) returns canned replies from telling you that you deleted your own photos, had given someone your password and they deleted your photos, or used an easy to guess password and the "hacker" deleted your photos. Another more ridiculous response is that your photos were corrupted and a "clean-up" process removed them. Oh sure, something that has been in your system for over a year (where prints were made from those images) is now mysteriously "cleaned" off the system by the dotPhoto system. Sounds to me like there is a problem that dotPhoto just does not want to care about.
